The Olympics Are My Goal
Hello, my name is Allie Dragoo and I am a professional cyclist for team TWENTY16 Professional Cycling. I have been racing since I was eight years old and pursuing my dreams to be an Olympic cyclist has always been a goal of mine. I have already achieved several individual and team national titles which include BMX, Track, Mountain Biking, Cyclocross and Road cycling. Taking my experiences to another level with the Olympics being my goal, it is important to me to represent the United States, the hard work it takes to reach your goals, and promote women's cycling at the highest level.
USA Cycling has offered this unique grant opportunity to only ten professional cyclists in the United States and I am thrilled that they have chosen me and believe in me and have confidence in my development in order to represent Team USA.
Started racing and haven't looked back
I started out my cycling career by racing BMX for 13 years. Two of those years I was racing professionally. In 2009, I accepted a mountain bike scholarship to Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky. At LWC I learned about, and tried for the first time, every discipline of cycling; Track, MTB, CX, and Road. Throughout the year, I realized I would like to continue riding and get better so I then transferred to Marian University, the top collegiate cycling school in the nation. The past three and a half years I have progressed as a cyclist, lost fifty pounds, and haven’t looked back. I am ready to further my cycling career to the next level and enjoy my time growing with the sport.
Recently, I joined the TWENTY16 Professional Cycling team and started off with great success. Finishing 4th in the GC (general classification) of my first pro race and in my second race with TWENTY16 I finished 2nd in the Time Trial and helped the team win it's first victory of the year at the end of the stage.
Ride With U.S. Matching Grant
My RallyMe campaign is getting an extra boost thanks to a dedicated matching grant provided by the USA Cycling Development Foundation. That means for every dollar I raise on RallyMe, it will be doubled up to $2,500. I was one of 10 elite U.S. women cyclists chosen by a selection committee of USA Cycling coaches and staff to take part in this matching grant program. With your support I could raise at least $5,000 to help pay for travel and training costs for the 2014 racing season.
My Team
I would like to thank all of you who have believed in me and my cycling goals throughout the years and for the encouraging support for my future success: Marian University Cycling Team & Coach Peterson, TWENTY16 Professional Cycling Team, Standard Byke Company, my family, friends and for the support of awesome sponsors. None of this would be possible without you or without my strong faith.
Other Ways To Help
Again, I appreciate all of your help and support and ask that you share this information in hopes of helping me reach my goal. If you don't mind, please share this information with anyone you think would be interested in supporting me and U.S Women Cyclists.
"Support for Allie Dragoo is money well spent! Her persistence and ambition are apparent after spending time with her at a 3 week training camp. Watch for big things from this focused young athlete."

Allie Dragoo | Hello everyone, Just checking in and giving an update on what I have been up to. I finished off a great road season and was invited to Europe with USA Cycling. The race schedule included two stage races, one in Holland and one in Belgium. I made it through the third day in Holland and had an unfortunate crash. I have been recovering from a severe concussion and making trips to physical therapy each week. I am slowly starting to ride again and training should be starting soon! I've been taking my time and resting a ton to get better and it has been helping. I am looking forward to my 2015 season which includes track and road racing with TWENTY16 Professional Cycling team again. I'll check back with you all once the year gets going. Thank you for your support! Allie |
Jackie Dangl | Good luck Allie and best wishes for a successful cycling career! Bill and Jackie Dangl |
Allie Dragoo | Thank you all again for your support. It means so much to me, and as promised, I will keep you all updated on my progress. Two weeks ago, I completed in my final collegiate National Championship with Marian University Cycling. It was a very emotional weekend, but thrilling and successful as well. I put a lot of pressure on myself, knowing this would be my final and most emotional collegiate championship. I raced in all 3 of the women’s event, winning the women’s TTT with my teammates Coryn, Emily and CJ. In the Crit race, my teammate Coryn and I grabbed every prime point, and coming in to the last corner of the race, I lead my teammate out for a Marian win, and placing 6th myself. The final day was the road race with my teammate and myself leading the entire race, finishing a minute and half over the field. Coryn and I went 1 and 2. I ended the weekend with an overall 2nd place in the D1 omnium, but more importantly, a 24th national championship for the Marian University Cycling Team. Teamwork was in place the entire weekend and I couldn’t be more proud of my team, going out in the red, white and blue jerseys. Last weekend was graduation, and I completed my final task for Marian University by walking across the stage and receiving my diploma. I finished my semester with a 3.52 and on the Dean’s list. I now have my degree in Education with a minor in Physical Education. Marian University has been a wonderful experience for me and has given me so much stability and preparation for success. It was a bittersweet feeling graduating and moving away from what was home for the past 4 years. Now I am officially a Marian University Alumni, and a full time Women’s Pro Cyclist for Twenty16. Next up on the agenda is U.S. Pro Nationals in Chattanooga, TN over Memorial Day weekend, followed by a race in Philly on June 1, then the move to Colorado. My FELT track bike is being shipped, and I'm excited to start training and racing on the track! Thank you all so much for your confidence and support. |

Allie Dragoo | This is an incredible journey and opportunity for me and I want to thank you all for your support! I’ve had a busy past 2 months with team camp, pro racing with Twenty 16, collegiate racing with Marian University, and trying to finish up my last semester of college. The next few weeks do not seem to slow down either, as I’m off to Winston/Salem this weekend to join Twenty16 for a pro race, and then back to school to finish my collegiate cycling with regionals at Purdue and then my final collegiate national championship {tears} the first weekend in May. After that, I graduate {big smiley face}!!!!! Shortly after graduation, I will be going to Colorado to train with my team mates and to be closer to the USA Cycling Olympic Training Center. I’m truly blessed to be able to travel and ride my bike and am excited about what the future holds. Thank you for opening your hearts in support of me. I will do my best to keep you all informed along this journey and, with each race will always remember the love and support of my family and friends. THANK YOU! |
