I'm just back from Australia. Thank you to everyone who contributed to help make this trip possible! It was an amazing experience to be in Cairns, see the coast, spend time at the race venue, meet so many other athletes from around the world, and represent the USA! The course was very difficult at first, because the terrain and dust were unlike anything I'd ever ridden. I started to get used to it a little and became more consistent... I stopped falling as badly. The seeding run did not go well, but I was able to improve in my race run by 13 seconds - even though I had a slip out right before the ridgeline in an off camber section and had to scramble down to retrieve my bike. My run up until that point felt very good. I learned so much from this experience and am already looking forward to next year! I'm super happy to be racing locally for the next few months at ESC races at Windham, Mt Snow, and at Killington. Thanks again, everyone!
Last Monday I was selected to be on Team USA and represent the United States at Mountain Bike World Championships in Cairns Australia September 4th - September 11th.
I was selected due to my results this season and specifically my 2nd place podium result at the Mount Sainte Anne World Cup.
This honor was quite a surprise! Costs for this trip include the shipping of my bike, travel to and within Australia, lodging, bike repairs, and food. These total about $3,500. I worked this summer and saved some money towards a ski trip, but as a family we have nothing budgeted for Mountain Bike World Championships.
I'm hoping that friends and family can help make this a reality!
Representing the United States in both Winter and Summer World Championships is beyond amazing - and I will be forever grateful for this opportunity!
Huge thanks to everyone who has helped me get this far! Specifically, The Eastern States Cup North American Downhill Team, the ESC family, George Ulmer, Sarah Wegiel, Killington Resort, Killington Mountain School, Spartan, Intense Cycles, Alpine Bike Works, Green Mountain Bikes, Nelson Maldonado, USA Cycling, and last but certainly not least my parents!
Thank you to all of the ESC North American Downhill Team sponsors for helping to give me this opportunity: Vittoria Tires, Clif Bar, Fox Racing Shox, Transition Bikes, Euroline Inc, Fly Racing, Box MTB, SDR Clothing Co, Pinkbike, Julbo USA, Roots & Rain, Danny's Cycles, SSG Landscaping and Swimming Pools, Mathieu's Cycle & Fitness, Thunder Mountain Bike Park, Pats Peak Ski Area, Alex Rims.
Thank you for your support!
